Capabilities
- HVAC Systems
- PSA has utilized computerized design tools for its system designs since
1971 when the company was first created. This use has expanded from relatively simple
HVAC Heating/Cooling Load calculations using time-shared computers in the early years to use of the TRANE TRACE 700® energy analysis/load calculation program, the TRANE Pipe
Designer program, the TRANE TOPSS®
Equipment Selection Program, the LINDAB/TLIne CADVENT®
three dimensional duct
design program, and many others provided by other equipment manufacturers. These programs
are all resident on PSA's computers and allow PSA's staff to efficiently
generate accurate HVAC systems designs that utilize the most efficient
systems for their function.
- Energy Analysis
- PSA accomplished its first energy analysis in 1972 using the TRANE
TRACE® program which was introduced that year. This analysis was the
first use of the TRACE program for this purpose in the State of Oklahoma.
PSA has standardized on the TRACE®
program for its energy analyses and has continued to use the program over
the past thirty years for many different facilities. The latest
analyses made were for the Oklahoma City Art Museum and both the base and
optional Gateway Dormitory designs at Tinker Air
Force Base for the Corps of Engineers.
- Acoustics/Noise Control
- PSA's initial exposure to Acoustics/Noise Control was a great learning
experience. The project was a small television studio in Amarillo,
Texas done for the NBC Affiliate there. This project was the springboard
which PSA used to become a successful Acoustics/Noise Control engineering
firm in the years to come. PSA has worked with nationally known
Acousticians on many successful projects since that very early Texas project
including the NBC Television Studios in Chicago, Illinois, the Quartz Mountain
Performing Arts Center in far southwestern Oklahoma, and the Civic Center
Music Hall Renovation in Oklahoma City. All of these facilities were
designed to noise levels at or below 20 NC and met that design. Other
acoustically sensitive projects done solely by PSA staff include the
National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, the Oklahoma City Museum of
Art, and Midwest City High School Auditorium.
- Specifications
- PSA uses MASTERSPEC® master
specifications for all of its projects. These specifications are
updated quarterly in order to reflect changes in the industry and changes in
the manufacturers of products.
- CAD (Computer Aided Drafting)
- PSA has utilized CAD for producing construction documents for over 17
years. The first project accomplished using CAD systems was begun
in 1985. PSA was fully converted to the use of CAD by 1989 and
currently utilizes AutoCAD 2000i®
for all projects. Reproduction of our plans is accomplished by a
high-speed laser plotter that is backed up by ink-jet plotting systems.
